Green Lantern isn’t included in this year’s Justice League- movie, but that doesn’t stop the iconic hero from appearing in the DCEU. It was announced last year, that the Green Lantern Corps will be the thirteenth installment in the DCEU. And it will feature Hal Jordan AND John Stewart. The movie will be released in 2020, and no cast members have been announced yet.
But the shortlist of actors for the role of Hal Jordan has just been released! Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Armie Hammer, and Jake Gyllenhaal are all considered for the role.
Ryan Reynolds, best known for his role as Deadpool, starred the criticised 2011 Green Lantern movie, and apparently he is considered to reprise the role in the DCEU.
Another interesting name on the list is Tom Cruise, who has never played a comic book-character before, but has proven himself a top class action-star in Mission Impossible-franchise, Edge Of Tomorrow and Jack Reacher, to name a few.
While Armie Hammer has been reported earlier to be considered for the role, he and even teased fans with a Twitter interaction with Joe Manganiello.
Gyllenhaal is known to be a fan of superhero movies, having said in last year’s SXSW “Superhero movies have inspired me. I remember when I saw Thor I was really inspired. There’s a reason for myth. They are so moving and so important…. Sometimes I’m in a scene playing what people might interpret as a sociopath and I’m thinking of Thor,”
