There has been a lot of turbulance around The Batman lately. First Ben Affleck said that he will not make the movie if they can’t come up with a good enough script, then Affleck announced that he will not direct the movie; leaving WB to search for a new director, and now we have reports that the entire movie will get a fresh start with a completely new script.
According to Forbes the original script written by Affleck and Geoff Johns, and re-written by Chris Terrio, will be scrapped. The project will get a fresh start and a completely new script, once Warner Bros have found a new director for the movie.
As of now Affleck remains attached to playing Bruce Wayne/Barman. However there is a certain uncertancy among fans on wheter or not he will remain committed to the project, once the new director has been acquired and a new script is written.
Affleck himself has said that he wants to star in the film, but he said the same thing about directing it just three weeks ago. Here’s Affleck’s full statement after leaving the director’s chair:
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Forbes also have some information about the original script for the movie:
Story originally had Deathstroke as the main villain, with few appereances from other famous DC villains, such as The Joker.
The Batman will reportedly aim for 2019 release.
