Star Wars Has A New R2-D2

After death of the iconic Kenny Baker, last year, Star Wars was left without an actor for our favourite astromech-droid R2-D2.

Well, to be precise, Baker was actually only a consultant for the role in The Force Awakens. Jimmy Lee was the man playing the droid in it’s short apperence in TFA. And now Lee has officially taken up the mantle of playing R2-D2 in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Jimmy Lee said that “it’s been an absolute pleasure to have worked alongside the legendary Kenny Baker. Kenny was a fantastic actor and taught me all the tricks on how he brought R2-D2 to life, which I will continue to potray in his honour. I’m so excited to be part of the Star Wars universe and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working so hard on for the last year”
