Ubisoft have remained very quiet about the next Assassin’s Creed game, which is rumoured to set in ancient Egypt. But now, someone posted an image to Reddit, which looks like an early-stage development picture, of the highly rumoured Assassin’s Creed Empire.
If you look at the image, there is many things suggesting that this could be the next Assassin’s Creed game. The character is standing in front of a door, which looks very much like an ancient Egyptian tomb, it could be an Assassin tomb like in the Ezio trilogy. On top of the doorway we see a waypoint symbol, very similar to other AC games. I can’t quite see what’s in the middle of it, but it could be an Assassin standing, sarcophageus, or they could have re-used the train symbol from Syndicate at this point. The character has a shield which has some kind of symbol on it, but it looks very much like the Assassin symbol. And if you’re wondering where his hood is: if he has taken his hood off, it would be under his shield, which could suggest that you can once again take your hood off/on whenever you want.
Other things we see from the image are: character has a sword, spear, shield and quiver for arrows, so we might finally be able to carry multiple weapons at a time again. The clothing also looks very similar to ancient Egyptians, with character only wearing ripped shorts and sandals. The weapons are also very similar to ancient Egypt, with bow and spears being very common back then. Also the sword, which is not only very common in ancient Egypt, also has that little curve to the blade’s end being very common back then.
If you’re saying “that looks absolutely shit, no way Empire could look so bad,” the game is probably still in pretty early stages of development. And when games are made, they don’t make them to look good right away, they make them to look simple so that they are easier to modify.
There have been many leaks about Empire, with no confirmation from Ubisoft, but for me this seems likely/possible to be real. It has so many similarities to Assassin’s Creed, and it would take a very long time for someone to fake that image from scratch.
